Indonesia’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) is stepping up its fight against crypto-related crimes by leveraging blockchain analytics and artificial intelligence tools, according to a report from Foresight News.
Bareskrim officials disclosed that the agency has observed a sharp increase in romance scams, phishing attacks, and deepfake fraud involving cryptocurrency. In response, they are enhancing training, adopting advanced surveillance tech, and strengthening partnerships with crypto exchanges, wallet providers, and foreign law enforcement agencies.
A senior Bareskrim representative emphasized the importance of working closely with platforms like Binance to trace funds and freeze assets tied to criminal activity. This includes cross-border investigations and information sharing aimed at dismantling complex fraud networks.
The move reflects growing regional efforts to increase regulatory oversight and digital asset security, positioning Indonesia as one of the more proactive jurisdictions in Southeast Asia when it comes to combating crypto-financial crime.
