In Brief:
The US government holds an estimated 7.8M BTC worth $936B, topping global rankings.
India and China follow with 1M BTC and 194K BTC respectively.

According to new statistical data compiled by Fred Krueger, the governments of the United States, India, and China hold the largest Bitcoin reserves in the world.

The United States leads by a wide margin, with an estimated 7.8 million BTC valued at roughly $936 billion. India ranks second, holding about 1 million BTC worth $120 billion, while China takes third place with 194,000 BTC valued at approximately $22.3 billion.

The figures highlight the scale of sovereign Bitcoin adoption and the growing role of BTC as a strategic reserve asset for major economies. While the US and India have been more open about their growing crypto engagement, China’s holdings stem largely from seizures in past enforcement actions.

Analysts note that government-held Bitcoin could influence market liquidity, regulatory approaches, and the future adoption of digital assets in global finance.
