Vice President JD Vance is set to headline the Bitcoin 2025 conference, making history as the first sitting vice president to publicly support Bitcoin at a major crypto event. This marks a significant moment in the growing relationship between U.S. politics and the cryptocurrency industry. Vance’s appearance at the conference in Las Vegas, scheduled for May 27-29, follows President Donald Trump’s address at last year’s Bitcoin 2024 conference.
Trump’s speech in Nashville had emphasized his support for Bitcoin, including a call for all future Bitcoin to be minted by U.S. businesses, while urging investors to hold onto their BTC. Trump’s backing of Bitcoin aligns with his broader crypto policy, including his establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve and digital assets stockpile after returning to office in January. Additionally, his administration has worked to ease regulatory pressure on the crypto industry, to mixed reactions from critics and supporters alike.
Vice President Vance, familiar with the crypto space, disclosed owning between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of Bitcoin in 2021. Having worked with libertarian investor Peter Thiel, a noted crypto advocate, Vance’s support for Bitcoin solidifies his position in the ongoing political dialogue around cryptocurrency.
With Trump’s two sons, Eric and Donald Jr., also speaking at Bitcoin 2025, along with the White House's AI and crypto czar David Sacks, the event promises to continue the momentum of high-profile political figures engaging with the crypto community.
