OpenAI asks court to stop Musk from further "illegal and unfair actions"
Claims Musk tried to merge OpenAI into Tesla before exiting the company

OpenAI has formally countersued Elon Musk, accusing the tech billionaire of harassment and media manipulation. The AI research lab filed a motion on April 9 requesting that a federal judge block Musk from engaging in what it calls "illegal and unfair" actions, including public attacks and misinformation campaigns.

The countersuit comes in response to Musk’s earlier lawsuit accusing OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman of betraying the company’s nonprofit mission. Musk claimed OpenAI had shifted toward profit motives, particularly through its partnership with Microsoft.

OpenAI, however, pushed back by revealing that Musk had once attempted to bring the nonprofit under Tesla’s umbrella and turn it into a for-profit venture. After the proposal was rejected, Musk reportedly stepped away from the organization.

This legal clash adds another layer to the ongoing tension between Big Tech figures as AI competition heats up globally.
