The SuiPlay0X1, a new handheld console co-developed by Mysten Labs and Playtron, is positioning itself as a crypto-native rival to the Steam Deck—offering serious PC gaming performance and integrated blockchain functionality. Set to launch this summer, the $599 device is already sold out in pre-orders.
During Token2049 in Dubai, Decrypt tested the SuiPlay0X1 and praised its sharp 7-inch LCD screen, smooth gameplay (holding 30 FPS on Elden Ring), and high-end specs including an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U CPU and 512GB SSD. While the build quality impressed, some concerns were raised about long-term comfort due to its flat ergonomics.
The key differentiator is PlaytronOS, a Linux-based operating system designed to support games from Steam, Epic Games, GOG, and blockchain-native titles on the Sui network. On launch day, the device will natively support seven crypto games, including Xociety and ONE Fight Arena, with crypto elements abstracted behind a Web2-style login.
The SuiPlay0X1 Wallet is integrated into the device backend and supports the SUI token and Game Dollar stablecoin. While Decrypt didn’t get to test the crypto features due to event connectivity issues, the platform is built for future cross-chain compatibility.
With competing devices like the Solana Saga focused on mobile crypto gaming, and others like the BitBoy One limited to retro titles, the SuiPlay0X1 stands out by targeting serious gamers who also want Web3 access. Its success may depend on whether it can deliver a smooth crypto gaming experience—and whether the market is ready for it.
